Adventure, great characters and a moving storyline

3 very different people find themselves thrown together as they attempt to save an octopus like creature from falling into the hands of the authorities – who they suspect are not going to treat it with love and kindness. 

Having never met before Lennox, Ava and Heather come together after they are mysteriously struck down with strokes on the same night, and, even more weirdly, make a full recovery by the morning.  Events force them to go on the run, both from the authorities and also from issues in their own lives.  With a primary focus on saving Sandy (as the creature get named) they travel across Scotland, and form a bond. Can they save Sandy?

To me this is like a story from my childhood – but for adults (only because there is some bad language in accordance with what is going on).  3 people, one “octopus” and scary authorities out to get them.  Who will win?   Sandy is evidently not from earth – why he is here is for the reader to find out.  The people we meet along Sandy’s journey are interesting, normal and varied.

An enjoyable story, with strong characters and a narrative that is easy to follow, engaging and will have you hoping it all turns out ok, but not at all sure it will.

I listened to this as an audiobook from Audible, and was thrilled with the narrator, who really made the story come to life.
