My review of the startling and memorable novel  American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins is now up on EmmabBooks.com 

Lydia and her son are trying to escape from their ordinary, and happy, life in Mexico to get over the border to the USA.   Her story opened my eyes to why migrants risk their lives for a uncertain future.  A book that will break your heart, but also compel you to keep reading.
