What (am I currently reading)?
I am currently reading the murder mystery Five Down by Tom Sibson. This was published by Red Dragon Publishing on 12th July 2022. It is set in the city of York, England, and so far I am loving it, and enjoying the cryptic clues.

Book Blurb (taken from https://tomsibson.co.uk/ )
Following a sinister murder in a sleepy suburb of York, a local crime journalist receives an email claiming to be from the killer. They’ve sent him a cryptic clue which, if he’s right, will tell the police exactly where the next murder will take place.
Teaming up with Senior Investigating Officer D I Gene Garland, they discover the email is genuine, and as further emails arrive, the DI and his team face a race against the clock to solve each clue and stop a sadistic killer before the streets of York run red with innocent blood…
Five Down is a thrilling debut with a twist – can you solve the clues to stop a killer?
Why (have I chosen to read it)?
I keep seeing mention of Five Down on Twitter, and was in the mood for a “proper murder mystery”, where the reader has a chance to work things out for themself. This is Tom Sibson’s debut novel, so that’s always exciting too!
I’m nearing the end, and pleased to see that the murders are quick and clean, with no gore – from the reader’s point of view. That is good news to me, as I’ve only just noticed the “sadistic killer” part in the book blurb!
While (I am reading it)
I’ve only been out for one (short) walk in the last week, and enjoyed these stone chicken companions to the goats that live here (spot the live goat, top left. The goat bottom right is a wooden sculpture!) . The goats are always friendly, and their owner is happy for them to be stroked and chatted to – which I like to do!

All the best, Emma

The blurb sounds interesting. I love thrillers where a serial killer challenges the police to solve the case before they claim their next victim.
Waiting to see what you think of this one so that I can add it to my TBR. 😊
