Ellie and the Harp Maker by Hazel Prior

Narrated by: Philip Battley , Katharine Lee McEwan

Beautiful, gentle story of ordinary lives

Ellie has a bucket list of things to do, none of which she has actually quite started.  So when the opportunity comes to learn to play the harp, she is excited and happy.  Less so her husband.

Dan is a harp maker.  Content in his barn with his harps, and where his life is ordered and content.

When the two meet each other their lives change, whether for the better or not is the question.

Beautifully written and narrated this is a gentle story of the lives of two ordinary people, who meet and begin to question their ordered lives.  Some of Ellie’s decisions were, to my mind, controversial – but not in a straight forward way.  Never have I been in so much need of a book club to discuss a book with – definitely over a glass of wine.

Thoughtful, beautiful and a wonderful audiobook.
