This is the story of Satoru and his cat Nana, and their travels around Japan. It is also the story of friendship and love.
Nana is a cat who is rescued by Satoru, and accompanies him on his visits to friends. Nana does not know why they are going on these journeys, but enjoys the beauty of the Japanese countryside, and the companionship of his friend/human. The story is narrated by Nana and Satoru. Cat lovers will appreciate Nana’s uplifting insights into life and what he sees and understands.
This is a beautiful book about life’s journey and appreciating what you have – friends and the beauty of the world. Above all it is about Nana and Satoru’s love, that will overcome all.
Beautifully translated, a lovely book that will appeal to anyone who has ever loved (and been loved by) a cat. 4*s from me.
I’ve been meaning to read this one but am a little hesitant in case the ending isn’t a happy one.
