#amreading – What, Why, While

What (am I currently reading)?

I am currently listening to the audio book The One by John Marrs @johnmarrs1

A psychological thriller, narrated by Clare Corbett, Vicky Hall, Simon Bubb, Jot Davies and Sophie Aldred.

One simple mouth swab is all it takes. A quick DNA test to find your perfect partner – the one you’re genetically made for.

A decade after scientists discover everyone has a gene they share with just one other person, millions have taken the test, desperate to find true love. Now, five more people meet their Match. But even soul mates have secrets. And some are more shocking – and deadlier – than others…

Soon to be a major Netflix Original series.

Why (have I chosen to read it)?

Because “everyone” on Twitter has been getting very excited about this psychological thriller – and I love this genre.  And what a great idea to use DNA swabs to find meeting Mr/Ms Right – I agreed to train for (and eventually) run a very muddy off road marathon, just so I could spend time getting to know my Mr Right.  A mouth swab would have been so much easier!

Also because John Marrs made an (unintentionally) funny comment on Twitter, which made me laugh out loud, as did the reply.  The content wasn’t particularly important, but it made this author stand out for me, which, with all the positive comments about this book, made it jump to the top of my Audible Wish List.  Funny the effect an off hand comment can have.

This is the first book I have read by John Marrs, and I’m loving it so far. Thanks all you Twitter people (and you John Marrs for writing it!).

Review will be up soon (got to finish it first!), but I’m loving it so far, and looking forward to it coming out on Netflix.

While (I  am reading it)

I’ve been trying to get lots of walking in, before the mountain lifts close for the summer season (on Monday), and whilst heading to the start of a walk I came across this pumpkin outside a bar – which made me laugh.

All the best, Emma
