Having read and loved American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins, I was excited to read The Outside Boy by the same author.

This novel is set around a family of Irish Travellers in the late 1950’s, in particular Christy (aged 12) and his hopes and dreams. I found it an interesting read, but disappointingly lacking in depth of information about the lives of Irish Travellers at that time. It did however have a great twist.
