What (am I currently reading)?
I am currently reading the literary fiction Call of the Penguins by Hazel Prior, who also wrote Away With the Penguins* (a 5* read) . Call of the Penguins is out in paperback on 11th November published by Black Swan who are part of Transworld Publishers / Random House UK.
*In the US Away with the Penguins is also known as How the Penguins Saved Veronica

Book Blurb (taken from www.penguin.co.uk )
Meet the heroine everyone’s talking about . . .
Fiercely resilient and impeccably dressed, Veronica McCreedy has lived an incredible 87 years. Most of them alone, in her huge house by the sea.
But Veronica has recently discovered a late-life love for family and friendship, adventure and wildlife.
More specifically, a love for penguins!
And so when she’s invited to co-present a wildlife documentary, far away in the southern hemisphere, she jumps at the chance.
Even though it will put her in the spotlight, just when she thought she would soon fade into the wings.
Perhaps it’s never too late to shine?
Why (have I chosen to read it)?
I listened to Hazel Prior’s previous beautiful, and heart-lifting, audiobook Away with the Penguins, and loved every moment So with the evenings drawing in, I felt this was the perfect time to catch up with Veronica, and of course to indulge myself in more time with penguins. I’m only 3 chapters in so far, and loving every moment!
While (I am reading it)
Tuesday just gone (a national holiday here) was the last day the mountain lifts were open for the summer season so I walked up in the mountains enjoying the beautiful autumn colours and the peace. My knees prefer to get the lift down (they are ok about walking up!), but I may have to push them out of their comfort zone if the glorious sunny days we are currently experiencing continue.

All the best, Emma
ps: I usually do my “What I am reading, Why I am reading and While I am reading” feature on a Sunday, but this coming Sunday I want to share my review of a great new thriller out that day. So I’ve moved this blog forward a couple of days.

That’s an absolutely gorgeous photo. I can see why you went before the lifts closed down for the season.

I love those fall colors! I agree, I prefer walking up rather than down.
