#amreading – What, Why, While :   In the Company of Strangers by Awais Khan @AwaisKhanAuthor  @HeraBooks

What (am I currently reading)?

I am currently reading In the Company of Strangers by Awais Khan.  This was published by Hera Books in October of this year, and previously by Simon & Schuster India.

Book Blurb (taken from https://www.goodreads.com/  )

Lahore – a city of secretive glamour, whispering elites, and sordid affairs. A city brought to its knees by terrorism.

Forty one-year old Mona has almost everything: money, friends, social status… everything except for freedom in the repressed Pakistani society. Languishing in her golden cage, she craves a sense of belonging… of love.

Desperate for emotional release, she turns to an indulgent friend who introduces her to an alternate world of glitter, glamour, covert affairs and drugs. There she meets Ali, a physically and emotionally wounded man, years younger than her.

Heady with love, she begins a delicate game of deceit that spirals out of control and threatens to shatter the deceptive facade of conservatism erected by Lahori society, and potentially destroy everything that Mona has ever held dear.

Why (have I chosen to read it)?

I am reading it because earlier this year I read, and gave 5*s to, No Honour by Awais Khan.   When I saw In The Company of Strangers was being re-released I immediately pre-ordered it.

While (I am reading it)

The beginning of the week we enjoyed sunshine and warmth, since then we have had a lot of rain, with snow covering the ski slopes to about half way down. It is has turned so cold (about 6C during the day) that our 4 month old kitten wasn’t amused at getting his paws chilled when he went out today.  This weeks photo is of a pretty stream I encountered while the sun was shining.

All the best, Emma
