The Pain Tourist by Paul Cleave

Great characters and lots going on

James’ house is broken into, resulting in deaths and him going into a coma.  When James eventually awakes he is surprised to find that the life he has been living in his Coma World is different from the outside world – except for some details.    Can the police now solve what happened all that time ago?

Meanwhile there’s a serial killer at work, and ex-cop is keen to get back involved with the James’ case.  There’s plenty going on!

Only 300 pages, but this thriller took me ages to read, because there was so much action and character interest. Indeed there are almost 3 stories intertwined within the pages.  It does take a little concentration to remember who is who, and it did make me stop and think about life at times – which was great.

Some of the storyline was very realistic – which I found quite difficult to read (think that’s just me!), however all in all this was an involving and fast moving thriller, with the storyline about James’ Coma World adding real interest.
