I can’t believe its the end of July already. I’ve read 4 great books this month, all fiction, but The Waiting Rooms and In Two Worlds are very much fiction based on truth.

A life changing novel about an intelligent boy who, because his brain does not connect with his motor skills, cannot communicate with the outside world. I knew before starting the book , that he was going to make the breakthrough, and the suspense of thinking “it will happen now” was dramatic. The author has non-speaking autism, so knows what he is writing about!
A book I recommend to everyone, young and old. It will change your viewpoint on many things.

A fast moving action thriller where absolutely no-one is safe! The writing is very much focused on the characters and what they are up to, rather than the police hunt to find 17 year old Lauren who is trying her best to stay safe. Lesson learnt: If you’re the daughter of a crime lord, don’t annoy him!

Kathleen is found dead at the bottom of a cliff, shortly after she had warned Beth that she was scared of one of their close circle of friends. The narrative follows Beth as she tries to work out which of their friends might have murdered Kathleen. I spent the whole book thinking “Yes, its definitely him/her, or maybe its …” Excellent, and kept my mind off stuff going on in the real world.

The Waiting Rooms by Eve Smith

What happens when there is no cure for infections, and not enough drugs available for those infections that can still be cured. Answer: If you’re over 70 and fall ill, then you go to The Waiting Rooms. What a novel to read during the current time! Brilliant!
