#amreading – What, Why, Where

What (am I currently reading)?

I am currently reading The bench by Cromer beach, by RJ Gould @RJGould_author

(Blurb from the author’s website https://www.rjgould.info/books )

They seem to have it all. They’re in good health and are financially secure. They live in a pleasant and comfortable town. But as their lives intertwine, cracks emerge and restlessness grows.

For Clive, is retirement the beginning of the end? Can fun-loving Saskia break free from her adulterous husband? Will Andy marry his childhood sweetheart? Is Jamie prepared to change his dishonest ways? Might Ellie’s happy marriage be shattered by temptation?

Heartwarming and heartbreaking collide in this novel about aspirations, expectations and the realities of everyday life.

Why (have I chosen to read it)?

Because I have read two of this author’s previous books,  Mid-life follies and Jack & Jill went Downhill, and love the gentle and engaging writing style of this author.  His characters are easy to relate to, and there is always a wry look at life in his writing.

Where (have I been reading it)?

As many of you will know I love the great outdoors, and spend as much time as possible in it. I do enjoy finding a bench, with a beautiful view, to read on. This is a photo of one of “my benches” – I wasn’t actually reading on it when I took this photo earlier this week (I was hurrying home between storms), but it seemed an appropriate photo.

My review of The bench by Cromer beach will be up on EmmabBooks.com soon.

All the best. Emma
